I am not a fashion photographer. Though I've been on plenty of fashion sets before and am fully aware of that part of the industry, but just can't imagine myself as a 'fashion photographer'. BUT, here I am.... posting images that some would consider fashion. I still just call them 'portraits'.
It all started when me and my good friend/hairstylist Rich Matukaitis, decided to do a creative together. We've been talking about it for a while, but figured with his upcoming website launch, the time had come to get it done.
The concept was pretty simple: two 'bohemian, vintage' looks and two 'edgy, street' looks. Without having a stylist in mind, we acquired the help of local vintage store 'Tusk' and merged their guidance/generosity with our impeccable tastes to bring together some pretty badass looks... if I do say so myself.
After a few quick e-mails we found ourselves set up with our wonderful model, Charlotte, from the kind people over at Elite Models, and our equally as wonderful make-up artist, Karly Madill. Here's Karly being badass and doing what she does best...
Although the shoot was a little out of my norm, I still had an awesome time. Compared to my usual environmental shooting it was refreshingly challenging to have to create the image off a blank, studio canvas. With this, and my excitement of being able to test out some new lighting schematics, we were able to come out with a few different looks.
So yeah, good times. I'm really looking forward to getting back into the studio and doing more shoots of this sort.
Big thanks to...
Charlotte of Elite Models.
